Ma aur ma

What is satisfaction? Itminaan kya ha? Peace is when time is slightly controllable. I know ya ka mushkil cheez ha ya, simply put:  Waqt jab apka sath chalay, ya jab ap waqt ka sath chalein to itminan aajata ha. Log kahen ga overthinking, stress, baqi cheezain lekin sab sa zaruri chez ha Purpose. Mukhtaliq adwar ma mukhtlaf mushkilat aati han, lekin unsab sa niklna ka liya apko ik hath thamna ka liya chahya hota ha. Just like, rassi ko top sa hook kar ka climb kya jaa skta ha, lekin hook bagair rassi ka aur rassi bina hook ka be bas ha. The thing is, we always chase happiness not knowing that happiness isn't attainable, it's the pursuit of happiness that is actually important. If you are on the path of finding happiness, you'll be content. Aj In Sh...

Book Review: In a Kingdom by the Sea

Image
It’s a story of evocation, betrayal, a self-obsessed husband and an almost torn marital life. Gabby is the main character, which narrates the whole story. The story is set in two contrasting cultures: A western culture depicted by London and a tormenting, violent, at times dim but the beautiful and enchanting city of Lights, Karachi of 2010-16. Gabby lefts London to stay with his husband in Karachi, who works as director in Pakistan Atlantic Airlines. The story starts after a very long wait, when Gabby receives a letter from her sister, telling her of a dark secret buried in their past, a disturbing truth that crushes Gabby’s cherished, idyllic past and makes her feel gloomy in the terrorizing Karachi. At the very same time, another betrayal -bomb explodes in front of her, when her husband reveals that he is besotted by someone. In severe tension and distress, Pakistani people with their ever-loving, hospitable and comforting nature help her to get back on her feet. The Gabb...

Book review: Pakistan at the helm

Image
In this book, Tilak Devashar has written about all the rulers of Pakistan, both Military and Civilian. Starting from Jinnah, Tilak gives critical account of all the rulers, who one way or another have ruled Pakistan as autocrats.  Tilak writes anecdotal history of our rulers who shaped destiny of Pakistan, both domestically and internationally. In doing so, he also gives an insight about the working of Corridor of powers, the civil-military relationship, the petty politics and absurd rationales given to public in Election campaigns.  “The entire empire was the personal estate of the ruler; the bureaucracy functioned at his whims and fancies.” Thus, “instead of the rule of law there was the law of the ruler; all power and authority flowed from the ruler — political, military, administrative and judiciary “ It gives us an hint, that why we have struggled both financially and diplomatically since our inception. From the outset, this may seem a rhetoric of another...

Book review: A man Called Ove

Image
Title: A Man called Ove Author: Fredrik Backman  Meet OVE, a kvetch, recently unemployed and not so recently widowed. He believes everything should be run in an orderly manner. For him, A real man wakes up at 6, brews his coffee himself (without machine, ofcourse), and then goes out for morning rituals.  Ove is a grumpy old sod, who is for the most part of novel; a bitter neighbour & an old-fashioned man. The author has done a fantabulous job in building his character; From a grumpy old man who is disciplined, devoid of emotions to the Lovely Ove, who still curses everything that happens around him but carries on with it.  Ove's wife Sonja, who according to him was the only person who understood him, was a beautiful, stunning & compassionate lady. As Ove puts it,  " He was a man of black & white. She was the colour. All the colour he had."  Sonja left Ove in this disorderly life alone. Ove gives up on life and starts making plans to reach her. BUT, p...

Book review: A case of Exploding Mangoes

Image
Title: 𝗔 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗲𝘀 Author: 𝗠𝘂𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗳 𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔: Storytelling: 4/5 Enjoyment: 4/5 Recommended: yes Fact-fulness: 3/5 "𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘮 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘬𝘩𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘯𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦." -Muhammad Hanif The story is about one of the most intriguing murder mysteries of recent times: The death of General Zia, US Ambassador Raphael and Top brass of Pakistan army (when they were planning to have a mango party) in a crash of Pak one on August 17, 1988. The time when US and Pakistan were busy fighting the Communists in Afghanistan.  The novel tries to explore how President Zia’s plane that only flew less than 50 hours, had no technical faults, had top class pilots in the cockpit was crashed. Personally, I feel the author has been too harsh on Pakistan Military. Factually, this book do presents a theory which by the looks of it, appea...

The Question is: Does eternity lasts forever?

Image
In the quest of life, I found death I found loneliness in the midst of throng Aversion, Vendetta, Chaos, Violence  Whenever they speak, venom comes out For they have butchered more mortals then Kings Reality is bitter than a bitter melon  Thy heart is purer than sunset at Taj Mahal, Thy lips when speak, speak L O V E Thy Eyes when look, long for Mercy Thy wants to live in love for eternity  Thy feels eternity lasts forever  I am a sinner, who found a Saint Saint who preaches, love, and love  Mercy, Forgiveness are the pillars of his mausoleum  I asked him, Does eternity lasts forever?  He articulated "Love is eternity, Eternity is love" Note: Image courtesy of Oakscouncel.com

Why "why"?

Image
W H Y; These three letters are the essence of our living. From Dead sea to Mount Everest, from Kaffeklubben island to Antarctica, everyone is involved in a race to find out "why". "Why" surrounds our existence.   "So, let man observe from what he was created?" -Surat Al-tariq, Ayat 5 “I go to seek a Great Perhaps.” ― François Rabelais Everyone is certainly uncertain. The quest to find the meaning of everything takes us from being closer to our loved ones, to far apart. Some of us lose this race, others get tired, and very few find the actual reason of "Why". The tricky part is, everyone's why is different. Let me quote someone who I hold very dear, "We spend lot of times convincing others to the ideas of someone we listened, read or watched. Our own thought process is paralyzed. " The essence of "why" is not in finding it, it's just in the struggle. You fail, you fail again; Every failure has a reason, ...
